Over the years, there has been a major surge of people quitting their daily 9 to 5 jobs and pursuing work independently. It has been estimated that around 150 million people in North America and Western Europe have decided to leave their old jobs behind as they plan on becoming independent contractors. The recent pandemic has further highlighted the need for gig economy.
A recently conducted study, which held an in-depth study of 65 gig workers, concluded that almost all of the workers shared the same sentiment regarding the traditional job. They all felt the traditional work setting is restrictive in nature and by going for independent contractors, they felt more self-sufficient and were earning more than their corporate counterparts in terms of finance.

PLACE
Many participants in the study considered their workplace to be crucial for the work they do. Having a designated place for work allowed them to stay focused and organized despite some workers enjoying the occasional portable work, but a proper workplace was deemed essential.

One participant set the record straight and pointed out that people are unable to achieve their goals because they do not take out time and space for what they need to do.
ROUTINES
When working in an organization, there is a monotonous routine that a corporate employee begins to observe. This routine kills creativity and develops a sense of boredom within the office. Multiple studies showed that many famous artists, elite athletes, and everyday workers use their freedom to create a routine that enhances their focus and improving their performance.

PURPOSE
When starting something new, many people look to their reason of starting as a source of motivation. This is one of the most crucial aspect as purpose allows the people to stay grounded and motivated. Once you have a clear vision of what you plan on doing, it can help you continue your work and not be able to lose the sight of why you began it in the first place.
Some people take the opportunity to pursue an independent career and some people are forced into it due to the unstable economic circumstances of their locality – whatever the situation is, you need to make the best of it.
